Young people visiting the landmark Cathedral of Saint Patrick in New York City will be introduced to its history, architecture and heritage by the newly published Youth Guide to Saint Patrick�s Cathedral. It is the first guide to a Roman Catholic cathedral exclusively written for young people to be published in the United States. Editions du Signe has produced a similar guide for Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
Illustrations and text explain the architectural design of the cathedral as well as the ways in which it reflects the people of New York which it serves. Designed as an overview of the 126 year old center of Roman Catholic worship in the Archdiocese of New York, the guide tells the story of Archbishop John Hughes� dream of a �€�cathedral of suitable magnificence�€� that was built far outside the city limits. It has become the most recognized Cathedral in the Untied States.
Written by Nora Sharkey Murphy of Bronxville, and illustrated by French artists Francis Keller and Francois Ruyer, the guide is published by Editions du Signe of Paris.
